Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 53 lbs
I just got my dog spayed on the 19th. I last bathed her on the 18th and haven't let her get dirty since then, but since we haven't been able to bathe her, we've noticed she's starting to smell similar to a hamster. She is a german shepherd mix. I read online that her smelling stinky like that could be a yeast infection. I smelled her paws and ears and they smell normal. We feed her Pedigree dog food with ground up organic pumpkin seeds mixed in. Thank your help.

Hello, thank you for your question. Most of the time dogs who have a yeast infection on their skin have changes to the surface of the skin - such as crusts, discharge, or a large amount of blackheads. A yeast infection often smells to many individuals like "bread" or "Fritos". Most dogs are also usually very itchy or bothered when they have this type of infection. It is possible that you may be smelling some of the antiseptic that was used on your dog prior to surgery as some of the products have a strong odor. I would recommend continuing to monitor Iowa. If you notice any lesions or discharge develops I would recommend having her evaluated by your veterinarian. Hope this helps!
