Why is my old dog restless, following me, and sitting up suddenly?

My dog Dexter is 13 years old with no known diseases or currently on medications. The past two days he has been eating drinking sleeping pretty normal but has been restless and following me almost constantly, he doesn’t seem to be in a relaxed state and when he does lay for a minute or so he will bolt up and sit upright suddenly or sit on his hind legs. What could be causing this behavior? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 12 years old | 50 lbs

Hello. This behavior indicates some sort of pain or discomfort. It may be back pain, neck pain or from some other source. It is recommended that you have your veterinarian examine Dexter in order to determine the origin of the problem and develop an appropriate treatment plan. Thank you
