Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 11 years and 3 months old
My cat has a recurring red spot in the corner of her left eye. It almost looks like a scratch and to my knowledge has never had any sort of discharge. She doesn’t seem particularly phased by it and it isn’t affecting the eye itself, just the area between it and the nose. Should I be concerned? Is it possible she’s just scratching it herself? Should I take her into the vet?

Hi, and thanks for your question. That is likely to be due to a moderate conjunctivitis, probably secondary to a infection. A check up would be needed as appropriate treatment would include antibiotics and anti-inflammatory eye drops. Corneal injuries must be ruled out as well. Hello, those changes could be a variance of normal, however other potential causes could be growth or even pus within the eye. Give that your cats eye is not red, he is not squinting, and his cornea is clear I don’t believe there to be anything wrong with his eye. If you believe this change to be new, then you should consult with your veterinarian so that they may perform a ocular exam. Hope this helps and best of luck.
