My German Shepherd has a red spot. When should I worry and see a vet?

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Female | spayed | 1 year and 8 months old | 70 lbs

I just noticed this red splotch on My 18 month German Shepherd. When I noticed it she didn’t pull away in pain. I used a little bit of burts bees all natural anti itch spray on it and she didn’t react to it at all either, no signs of pain. This is the first time I’ve ever seen something like this on her. Is it worth taking her to the vet? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

I'd keep an eye on this area for now, it doesn't look too big or red in the pictures. It may be an area of irritation but it can be a sign of a skin infection. Should this area get redder, bigger, Ava has hair loss, or it starts to bother her, have her seen by a vet. I hope this helps!

My german shepherd developed this spot about 5 days ago. I'm not sure what it is. I bathed him, gently washed the infected area while trimming the fur, did a salt-water rinse, and applied a bit of Neosporin.. Please help.
That looks like a deep infection and I recommend to have Lori examined by the veterinarian. Sometimes these infections are related to a bacteria or yeast infection. They can also be related to skin mites or an autoimmune condition. Generally deep infection require antibiotics. It’s very important to make sure you protect the area from any licking or scratching as this will make it worse. The doctor may recommend a few simple diagnostics to determine the cause of the infection and then provide appropriate treatment. Best of luck and please feel free to post any additional questions.

My German Shepherd has a weird thing on her stomach. Near private part. What is that? Do I need to take her to the vet?
I do see the red slightly raised area on the skin near her vulva, and also she has some apparent smaller inflammed areas throughout her belly as well. This presentation can be due to allergies (environmental or food related) or it can be a sign of a fungal or bacterial infection. I would recommend placing a very small amount of Neosporin on it for the next few days, using gloves, but first cleaning the area with Betadine diluted 50:50 with warm water, and then monitoring her. for the next few days. If she seems bothered by it and licks it a lot, then its best to get this checked right away and tested by your vet for the possibilities I mentioned above. I hope that things turn out well for Alivas and her skin condition. Hopefully this is just a mild allergy that will resolve on its own. Best of luck. Take care.

Hello. This could be as simple as a small wound that scarred over. It could also be a little patch of infection or something more serious. I would monitor it for now. If she is scratching at it, or if it is growing or has any discharge then have her into the vet. Otherwise monitor and it should heal up in about 5 days. Good luck with her!

Hi my German shepherd has a small sore on her right leg, not swollen but circular in shape and hair missing
This may be a so-called hot spot, i.e. a spot where Nerys is constantly licking , first because it may have itched or hurt, then because it became a habit. The constant licking prevents it from healing. You will need to take Nerys to your vet for an exam. Your vet may inject some steroid under the lesion and put Nerys on a long course of antibiotics and she will need to wear an e-collar to keep her from licking. It is important that she be kept busy with walks, playing etc, as boredom makes it worse.

Wondering what this could be and how I should handle it. I just noticed it today
It is hard to tell from the picture, but is there a discharge or an actual opening to the area. If there is then you can keep it clean with mild soap and water until you can get to the vet as it may need antibiotics from being infected. If the area is just red with no breaks in the skin, then I would rotate Neosporin with cortisone cream to apply topically to help it heal. If it spreads or changes, then I would get it checked by your vet. It may be from bug bite or getting scratched out side.

My German shepherd bitch is suffering from irritation around her eyes. The area became reddish . How to cure this please help.
Common causes of redness or irritation around the eyes like this include bacterial infection, mites (like demodectic mange), allergies, fleas, among others. Since this area is so close to the cornea of the eyeball, I recommend that she be evaluated by a veterinarian so that appropriate medications can be used. Any topical ointment that can be used on skin needs to be safe for eyes. If she is not on flea preventative, start that as soon as possible. Your vet may recommend diagnostics like a skin scrape to look for mites, cytology to look for bacteria, or recommend antihistamines based on their physical examination.

We found this bump on our new German Shepard puppy, can you please tell me what to do? It has like a purple color to it.
Unfortunately the color on the picture is quite distorted. However if appears to be a possible abscess (infected pocket caused by trauma to the skin) or a large inflammatory response to a bug bite (spider perhaps). It is large however and looks irritated so I would recommend having your vet examine this area closely. Jasmine will likely need some medicaitons to get this to resolve well. Poor girl. I just noticed this red spot on my dog and I was wondering what it is? She doesn't seem to be irritated or hurt by it.
Thank you for providing a picture of Rosie's wound. It looks like she could have injured herself, leading to this red spot. I would gently clean it with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep an eye on it, and if it gets bigger, becomes swollen, warm to the touch, or there's pus, I would take her into the vet to get treated. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

My german shepherd has this large red and swollen area in her armpit. I just noticed it today. Could it be something serious or a skin allergy? She has been very itchy in her belly and chest area.
This looks like a typical skin allergy. I would discuss with your vet about getting Pepper on a flea prevention (if not already) and an allergy medication. Flea allergies are quite common in pets this young, so this would be my first suspicion. If this isn't the cause, then a contact allergy is likely. Contact allergies are an allergic reaction to something the pet is laying on frequently. I hope that you are able to get Pepper some relief soon! Best wishes and take care. : )

What is this on my puppy should I be concerned ?
This looks as if it could be an insect bite, such as a biting fly. If your dog has no other areas of skin that look bruised, her gums look nice and pink with no bruising, and she has normal appetite/energy then I would just monitor the spot. If it isn't resolving in a few days or other abnormalities develop then a vet exam is needed.
