Could my hypothyroid dog's high TT4 mean she's overmedicated?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | spayed | 5 years and 7 months old | 70 lbs

My Labrador Retriever was diagnosed with hypothyroid disease in June 24. Her TT4 results were 5.6. In November, her results were 5.8. Are these indicative up hyperthyroid disease? I'm concerned she shouldn't be taking Thyro Tabs. She is currently taking 0.9 mg per day down from 1.2 mg per day. She is approximately 70 pounds.

Hyperthyroidism is rare in dogs and is typically caused by an aggressive thyroid tumor. It could be due to too high a dose of thyroid medication also. It is possible Bailey's dose needs further adjusting. Discuss this with your veterinarian.
