My dog is pooping blood and acting unusually quiet. Is it serious?

Hello, my shitzu dog was pooping with some blood last night , she is also very quiet , not normal for her to be that quiet she is very active

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Luna. I recommend that she sees an emergency veterinarian. Blood in the stool can be worrisome, especially if she is lethargic. Being a young dog, it is abnormal for her to be so quiet. There are numerous reasons that this could be happening to her. Parasites are common in young pets. More serious conditions such as hemorrhagic gastroenteritis and pancreatitis are also possible. The veterinarian will examine her and likely recommend diagnostic testing such as fecal testing, bloodwork and possibly x-rays. These results will guide treatment. I hope this information helps!
