Hello Doctor, I really hope you can answer this. My question is : " Are there a cat breed that is 100% deaf! I bought a cat 2 days ago and I found out that he is deaf, when I asked the store he said that the breed of this cat are always deaf, my question is : does such a thing exist ( deaf breed ) , and are there other cat's like this that can hear properly ? PS : the cat is Angora turk or Shirazi not sure . Thank you for your reply

To my knowledge, there is no breed of cat that is always deaf. Turkish Angora cats have a higher chance of being deaf because the gene for deafness is carried with the gene for a white coat. However, the Angora breed has been bred to try and reduce the chance of deafness. Any blue-eyed white cats tend to be deaf and if a white cat has two different colored eyes, often the ear on the same side as the blue eye will be deaf.
