My dog has red, goopy eyes. Is it allergies, or should I see a vet?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 35 lbs

Hi. So in late May my dog started getting a lot of thick eye discharge and the corners of his eyes were red. It did not spread to any of us or my other dog so we thought it was just allergies. But the problem is still here but super mild. Should he see a vet or should we get those eye rinses?

You need to take Cisco into a vet immediately. It sounds and looks like he has an eye infection and any eye problem is an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. This has to be seen by a vet asap. Best of luck.

    Yes, she does need to see a vet. It sounds like she has an eye infection, and any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet promptly. Leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss, and it cannot be treated at home. Please take her into the vet in the morning. Best of luck.

My dog had been squinting a lot/having a hard time opening her eyes, especially the left. The fur below is damp too but no other visible discharge. I don't know when it started but Mom said it had been going on for some days already.
It sounds like Choco has a severe eye infection, and she needs to see a vet immediately. Any eye infection should be considered an emergency, as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. The vet can confirm she has an eye infection, and can give her medication to treat it.

Her eyes has been bothering her clogged and hard for her to see sometime draines and red tenderness I've try to give her an allergy tables but she won't take them. I want to help her some day she doesn't feel good she just want to sleep it off.
She appears to have a more serious eye disease that is causing her pain which is probably why she doesn't feel well. It is not allergies. Her right eye is very cloudy which could be due to an injury, an autoimmune disease, some type infection or an eye disease like glaucoma. She needs to see a vet as soon as possible. This cannot be treated at home. The longer you wait the higher chance that she will lose her vision completely.

She has this red gunck coming out of her eye and it will not go away what do I need to do?
You need to take Dutches into a vet immediately, as it sounds like there is blood in the discharge from her eyes. Any problem with the eyes is considered an emergency because it's such a delicate and important structure. Leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. She could have injured her eye or may be suffering from a severe eye infection. The vet can diagnose the cause of her eye symptoms so it can be treated. I would take her into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her now.

Dog Eye drops for red eye and colored discharge
Red eyes and colored discharge can be a sign of conjunctivitis due to bacterial or viral infection, or a result of keratoconjunctivitis sicca, or dry eye. A vet exam is needed to determine the cause. Antibiotic eye drops or ointment are likely needed and these are prescription only. You can purchase a sterile eye wash to help rinse discharge from the eyes and use cool compresses to help soothe, but you will need a vet exam for the medication.

My dog's eye has a developing a discharge. I've cleaned this away from his eye 3 times this evening.

Does my dog have conjunctivitis? And should I take him to an emergency clinic, or should I wait until tomorrow when normal vet clinics open? He just started having symptoms this morning.
Hello. It does appear that he may have a mild case of conjunctivitis. There is a mild redness visible and light yellow discharge. Since there are no visible lesions on the cornea, no obvious swelling or severe problems, this can be a regular vet visit tomorrow. I don’t see anything that warrants a trip to the emergency clinic. Your veterinarian may prescribe some eye drops to alleviate the symptoms and treat the infection. Thank you for using Boop by Petco

Until you can get to the veterinarian, you can warm compress the eyes the alleviate some of the discomfort and remove some of the discharge. Let the moist warmth loosen the discharge and vet gently rub it away. A vet needs to look at the eyes and make sure that your dog is making enough tears. Lack of tear production can cause problems with the eyes. Also, your vet needs to check for ulcers and also check the pressure for glaucoma. Go to the vet as soon as is possible. Consider going to the ER of you think your pet is in a great deal of pain.

My dog eye is fully red and watery too what do i do now
I am sorry to hear this! His eye does look very irritated- and the area around his eye that has a 'cobblestone' appearance suggests that he has some chronic irritation. I would want to rule out a few things that cause these signs including stray eyelashes that are 'ingrown', eyelid abnormalities, allergies and mites. The good news is that most of these things can be treated successfully! I would bring him in and have a few eye tests done and have them closely examined with magnification (sometimes an ophthalmologist is recommended) and see what kind of treatment plan is needed. Until you can bring him in, over the counter lubricating eye drops may bring some short term relief. I hope this helps!

This is an emergency, your vet should see you right away, if he refuses you have to take him to another vet that will see him today. cloudiness of the eye is a very serious symptom, there are several eye condition that could cause that but it is important to start the treatment urgently, otherwise permanent eye damage could occur.
