My cat's eye is worsening: squinting, discharge, hair loss, blood?

We noticed that our cat started squinting in one eye after coming back from the vet. It started with squinting, then her eye became watery, discharge started forming and her eye became cloudy. We reached out the vet who prescribed up with the ointment for her eye. We noticed that it gradually became worse. A mass appeared under her eye, which went away after a few days but it appears as if she’s experiencing hair loss around her eye area. It seems as if she’s tearing blood and the inside of her

Izzy's eye is extremely bad and this is now a medical emergency. Without seeing her in person, I can't say what is causing this issue but she could go blind without immediate veterinary attention. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck.

It's difficult to know what this is without seeing it. This could be a bad case of conjunctivitis, an infection within the eye, or a problem with the skin surrounding the eye. Either way, this sounds very severe and it's important that Kitty be seen by a vet soon. If you can get her into carrier and take her to a vet, that would be best. Sometimes, you have to catch them in a trap (non-harmful) in order to get them to a vet. If you have trouble doing this, or are unable to take her to a vet, then I recommend calling the local shelter and asking for assistance. The shelters have vets on staff and will ensure Kitty gets the necessary treatment. I hope that helps and Kitty gets better soon.

Cat's eye is glossed over and he is squinting.
I see what you mean. He could be squinting because the light is painful to his eye, and it may be he has injured his eyes or has an eye infection. Any eye problem is an emergency because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I'd take him into a vet right away to get checked out. Best of luck.

It may be but I can't say for certain without seeing her. Any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. I'd have her seen by a vet in the morning.

My kitten who is about 2 in a half months old eye is rolled back in one of his eyes. There was some white discharge coming out of the eye. We carefully wiped it away. We now own three cats, and have never had this happen. Our local vet is closed now.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Azra. Eyes infections are common in young kittens, but more serious problems such as a corneal ulcer can occur. The veterinarian will examine her and likely perform some eye tests to determine the cause of her symptoms. I would recommend calling other primary care veterinarians in your area and see if she can be seen sooner. Then you can always get her records and follow up with her normal veterinarian. If this is not an option, then I would take her to an emergency veterinarian. Eye issues can advance quickly in some cases. I hope this information helps!

Hello, and thank you for your question. I'm sorry to hear that Mitzy is unwell. The most likely cause for her symptoms is an eye infection. If the eye hasn't improved and it has been several days since it started, you will need to take Mitzy to the vet, as she will require antibiotic eye drops. The vet will also want to perform a special test to check for a scratch on the eye, which would help determine the best type of eye drops to use. In the meantime, continue to use warm compresses on the eye to help provide relief and clear away mucus. I would also keep an e-collar (cone) on her at all times to prevent her from scratching and further damaging the eye. If further injury does occur, the eye could get much worse very quickly. I hope this helps, and that Mitzy gets the help she needs soon!
