My cat is lethargic from Cerenia. When should I call emergency vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 13.25 lbs

Cat was administered 1/2 tablet Cerenia anti-nausea medication as instructed by vet. Cat quickly became lethargic and continues to sleep five hours later. I will discontinue the Cerenia, but does this situation warrant a trip to the emergency vet?

Cats can sleep a lot when they are not feeling well. I'd keep an eye on Batman for now. If he's still this lethargic in the morning, isn't eating or drinking, or is vomiting, take him back into the vet right away. Best of luck.
