Can I use antibiotic ointment on my dog's wound under his eye?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 16 lbs

My dog was playing with other dogs which got a little rough. He now has a wound under his eye. It’s not oozing blood, but the skin is broken. I cleaned it with warm water but are there any antibiotic ointments or creams I can use on the wound this close to his eye?

No this close to the eye, no. I would keep a close eye on Baxter's wound. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and he will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. I hope this helps!
