I see what you mean about the bald spots. It could be due to a skin infection or ringworm. Without seeing your cat in person, I can't say for certain. It's best to have your cat seen by a vet to have this diagnosed and treated, and I recommend you call your vet in the morning to make an appointment. Best of luck.

Poor Chopin! There are a number of different things that can cause bald spots and hair loss like this in cats. Some common possibilities would include allergies, fleas, a bacterial or fungal skin infection, or skin mites (mange). Treatment will depend on what the underlying problem is, so I would recommend taking him to the vet for an exam when you are able to. Your vet can do some simple skin tests to help diagnose the problem and get him started on appropriate treatment depending on what is found.

I would recommend a vet visit. There is a possibility that this could be ringworm which is a contagious fungal infection. It may just be a scratch or abrasion but the vet can look at it and determine if further testing or treatment is needed.

My grey haired cat has a small white bald patch next to one ear and a much smaller one nearby. There is no red ring. I have isolated him as have 3 other cats and two dogs. Could this be ringworm
Yes, it could be. Animals don't get that distinct red ring from ringworm that people get. Ringworm is the number one skin problem in young cats so it is highly likely. I suggest you take him to a vet so you can get a proper diagnosis and then the appropriate treatment. Remember, ringworm is contagious, not only to other animals, but to people as well so be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after handling him. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Does the pictures attached look like ringworm(slight baldness between upper eye and ear). I have also attached of picture of what I am using to treat it (Malaseb).
This is a tricky question because a bacterial skin infection, ringworm, and skin mites can all appear very similar. The only way to tell them apart is by either treating for one of them or doing specific skin tests like a skin scrape, a skin cytology, and a fungal culture. I think it is ok that you are using the Malaseb shampoo for now. If the issue does not resolve over the course of a week or so then you may want to have your cat examined by your vet to determine the exact cause of hair loss. I hope this helps. That spot on Lewis could be several things including allergies, skin mites, bacterial infection or ringworm (which humans can get). There are a couple things you can do at home and they can help but they may not address the underlying cause. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for pets, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing his diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. Testing for ringworm is easy and you may opt to do that whenever you like. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This could be due to ringworm. This could also be just a focal skin bacterial infection, among other possibilities. I recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and treat accordingly. Ringworm can be transmitted to humans so just in case this is what is going on with him, wear gloves when handling this lesion. Good luck and best wishes!

I think you should get a second opinion from another vet. There are many causes of hair loss from the ears. They include fungal infections, fur mite or flea infestation, allergies from food and/or the environment, hormonal imbalances, environmental conditions, autoimmune disease, dietary deficiencies, behavioral issues, etc.

It looks like Bunny has a skin infection. It may be bacterial, but most likely it is a fungal infection known as ringworm. If that is the case, it is contagious to any other animal and the people in your home. Bunny should go back to a veterinarian to be diagnosed properly and get the appropriate prescription medication. It is important that you wash your hands after handling him, change clothes after picking him up if you have other animals to handle.

Thanks for the picture. This bald spot could be caused by a fungal infection (such a ring worm) or a bacterial infection or a mite. Since fungal infections are contagious to humans, I recommend taking him in to your veterinarian to get the area looked at and probably tested, rather than trying things at home first.
