Why is my dog constipated after switching to new renal food?

Question

My dog a few weeks ago she vomited so I gave her chicken n rice with Prescription Hills K/D she she got better now she wants it every time...now she wont eat without! I had no ideal chicken can cause her functions to get high...so I Changed her to Royal Canin exclusive Renal in a can its its like thick Pate' so I add water to soften it up! she eats it now but has not poops day 2. I'm worried now. Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) | Female | spayed | 14 years and 6 months old | 9 lbs

As long as she is not trying but failing to pass stools I would not be immediately concerned given the recent changes in diet. Adding some canned pumpkin for additional fiber may help to regulate bowel movement if not improved in the next 24hours. Ensure she is drinking adequate water also
