My dog licked a toad and has foamy lips. Is this an emergency now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 9 months old | 12.1 lbs

My Pekingese mix is about 12 lbs and I couldn’t get her to come inside this morning. I went out to investigate and I found out she was licking a toad. She is still acting completely normal other than her lips are a little foamy. Will she be ok?

Without knowing the type of toad licked, it would be hard to say. If she is showing signs of toxicity such as vomiting, diarrhea, excessive drooling, confusion, etc, it would be best to seek emergency care right away.
