My new puppy threw up kibble and bile. Should I call the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cockapoo | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 15 days old

Hi, my new puppy came home with me yesterday. He was fine, the breeder told us to feel him his kibble mixed with a wet food once in the morning and evening. He wolf's this down. Yesterday was ok but he isn't drinking much. Today he had his last meal at 5pm, a bit more water. He threw up at 1am in the crate, all kibble, then again at 2am, just white/yellow bile. Is this cause of concern?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Arnold. Vomiting is worrisome in a young puppy. Unfortunately, there are many causes. It could simply be due to the stress of coming to a new home. However, infectious causes are common in puppies. It is easy for a small puppy to become dehydrated. He will need to see as veterinarian if the vomiting continues. He will be examined and fecal testing may be needed. Based on these results, treatment can be started to help him feel better. I hope this information helps!
