My dog woke up suddenly yelping in pain but there is no apparent reason and he has been fine all day up to now. Both myself and my husband have checked him all over. He still has an appetite so I'm guessing it's not gastrointestinal, but just now I was checking him all over again and I noticed that when I got near his testicles he yelled in quite a bit of pain and seems to be doing so periodically ever since. He has been acting semi-reclusive and cries to himself sporadically.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Pinto. I recommend that he sees a veterinarian today. It is worrisome that he is yelping out in pain. As far as his testicles, he could be experiencing a torsion. This is very painful. Lower back pain can also cause a dog to yelp. The veterinarian will examine him and try to locate any site of pain. Based on this information, he may need x-rays. Then treatment can be started to help him feel better. In the meantime, keep him quiet and do not give any over-the-counter pain medications as these can be toxic to dogs. I hope this information helps!
