My cat is bleeding after spay surgery. Is this normal or concerning?

I'm concerned as well. In the pictures, it looks like Tortie had some bleeding during the spay, which is normal, and most of it was wiped off. But what is concerning me is that on top of the old blood looks like fresh blood and I'm worried that she may still be bleeding from the incision. Without seeing her in person, I can't say if this is normal or if she will be ok. I think it's best you take her back into the vet immediately to get this checked to be safe. I hope this helps.

There is a chance that there was some trauma to the bladder area while removing the uterus which is located just above the cervix. Some light bleeding can be expected to occur for 1-3 days after surgery but copious amounts of blood or prolonged bleeding should be considered abnormal. I would recommend either taking your cat back to the previous veterinarian, since he/she did the surgery, for a follow-up visit for further care. Or if the trust has been broken with this vet, you can get kitty seen with another expert for an exam and potential urinalysis to ensure there isn't a UTI present that could explain the symptoms that mentioned. As long as there is an active flow of urine and no outward signs of illness (vomiting, diarrhea, bloated abdomen) then this sounds like a relatively non-emergency type situation that can be hopefully be resolved with medical treatment, if any.

My cat just got spayed today at ASPCA and I brought her home which was an hour drive but I notice that she is bleeding from the cut on her stomach.
While it is normal to have some discharge and light bleeding from an incision, it's not normal to have excessive amounts of bleeding. I would find a vet on call in your area to speak to about Savannah if the bleeding is excessive, as she may need to be seen right away.

My cat was spayed just the other day. And the skin around the incision is turning purple, seems like there's a leak of blood. Is this normal?
That looks like bruising. I don’t think this is normal and I recommend to have Kurapika examined by the veterinarian to check her gum color and hematocrit to make sure there are not signs of internal bleeding. It’s possible this is from a pulled internal suture or something other than internal bleeding but it needs to be checked. Also make sure she has strict exercise restriction. Keep her in a bathroom so she can’t run around or be jumping. She should also wear an Elizabethan collar at all times. Have her examined today. I hope it’s nothing serious and please feel free to post any additional questions.

I agree urinating blood for a month isn't normal. Torty could have feline idiopathic cystitis or bladder stones causing this blood in her urine. I would take her into another vet as soon as possible. Best of luck.

I would keep an eye on Mayla's incision for now. If the swelling increases or you see more blood, then yes take her into the vet. I would also put the cone back on her. It seems to help keep her less active, which is vital for her healing. Best of luck.

I had my cat spayed on 6/1, sometime last week I took her to the vet because I thought she had ripped stitches or something because of the opening but I took her to the humane society and the vet said it was okay and keep it clean and use a cone. I j
Thank you for the picture, it's very helpful. The bleeding may be due to you cleaning the area, as it should not be washed while healing as that disturbs the scab and the healing process. Also stitches should not get wet. In the picture, the skin around the area does not look red or swollen. Please feel the area, and make sure it does not feel warm to the touch; if it does, that means it is infected and Charlie has to go back to the vet now. When the vet said keep the area clean, it means keep the area dry and away from dirt and debris, not to wash it. Please do not wash it again, pat the area dry, and since there was only a bit of bleeding, just monitor it for now. If you see redness, swelling, pus, the skin is warm to the touch, she becomes lethargic, and/or she has a loss of appetite, she needs to see a vet immediately. I hope this helps!

HI Sadly my cat gave birth to a one dead kitten...after one day she started bleeding out from her vagina... im kinda scared so can someone help with this..oh i almost forget is it normal that her milk stays in her nipples !!
You can see some bleeding after giving birth, that is normal, but without seeing her in person, I can't say if it's normal or not for sure I'd be concerned she may have more kittens yet to be born. Have her seen by a vet immediately. As for the milk, yes it's normal to still have milk there.

That looks fine as a healing incision. Continue to keep an eye on it for swelling, reddening, oozing, make sure she doesn't lick it too much and keep her from running and jumping for another week or so to ensure complete healing. After that time she can go back to her normal activities.

my cat recently got spayed on april 26th and i was wondering if her scar now is normal because it appears to have a ton of spots as well as it’s red
All in all, I think that Tokyo's incision looks perfectly normal for being about 10 days post-op. I can see that she's likely been licking the center part a bit more than she should have been since the tissue is still slightly red. However, it's still healing nicely. Since this area is a bit red, I would try to put an e-collar (cone) or baby onesie on Tokyo for the next few days to prevent her from licking at it. The white areas that you're seeing look like normal fibrin-rich tissues, which are normal in the healing process and will fall off shortly. I hope that she continues to heal well!

Is my cat's spay incision open? Should I take her to the vet?
From the picture it may seem slightly open, but just superficially (skin). This will heal very quickly and it does not seem any vet's intervention is needed at this stage. Please keep in touch with us in the next few days to give us some follow up informations. More pictures would be required to evaluate better this wound.
