Why is my cat not feeling well after her first vaccine shots?

This can be normal. Getting vaccines can cause a cat to feel off for a couple of days. I'd just keep an eye on Baby for now. If you see a lot of vomiting, diarrhea, severe lethargy, facial swelling, hives, or difficulty breathing, that is not normal and she will need to see a vet immediately. Otherwise, this should pass shortly. I hope this helps!

My kitten had his initial injections this morning, was fine during the day but this evening has been acting a little stange, looks drowsy and shaking.
It can be normal for kittens to be somewhat tired and sore after vaccination, just like human children. Some may run a low-grade fever and not eat well for the first day or so after their shots. What is NOT normal would be any of the following symptoms: repeated vomiting, pale gums, difficulty breathing, or collapse/extreme weakness - these are signs of a serious allergic reaction. This is very rare following vaccination, but if it occurs it can be life-threatening - so if you observe any of these signs, make sure to get your kitten to the vet right away. If she is just tired and sore, it should be fine to monitor her at home - she should be feeling better within the next 24-48 hours.

This can be normal! You can see some vomiting after getting vaccines and given that Faelan only vomited once, I would not be too worried. Plus he sounds like he is otherwise acting normally. I would keep an eye on him and if you see protracted vomiting, diarrhea, signs of an allergic reaction (facial swelling, difficulty breathing, then I would be worried and rush him into an ER vet immediately. Hi. Noushmc had her R.C.P. shot for the second time (first time was at 8week). Today her appetite is very good as usual but she sleeps alot, she doesn't like to be hugged & I think her shot mark hurts. Should I be worried or do anything ?
I'm so sorry that Noushmc isn't feeling well. Pain at the injection site and mild lethargy are very common with vaccinations and considered normal since the vaccination is stimulating the immune system. It usually lasts 1-2 days and will resolve on its own. If Nouschmc is not eating, is vomiting or it lasts more than 2 days, I would contact your veterinarian. Good luck! Hello, Mild lethargy and change in behavior can be normal up to two days after vaccinations. This is because the immune system is working to build protective immunity and the cats are stressed about the car ride and vet trip. Signs of a serious allergic reaction to vaccines include: facial swelling, hives, vomiting, and diarrhea. Those signs would be a reason to go to the vet ER. I hope this helps. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Possible side effects after vaccines include pain at the injection site, lethargy, inappetence and general discomfort. This should subside within 1-2 days. This sounds like a side effect of the vaccine, it's not super common but i'v seen a few cases already and this usually resolves within 48-72 hours. your vet could give her pain killers for a couple days if her condition seems to be really bad.

You can see a slight fever and some pain after vaccines, but this should pass in 24-48 hours. If Roxzy still have a fever tomorrow morning and/or is in pain, take him back into the vet. Best of luck.

My cat has not eaten for 24 hours after her vaccinations
Some poor appetite can be considered normal after vaccinations. Vaccines stimulate the immune system to help protect your pet from common diseases they could be exposed to. Vaccines can sometimes cause minor changes in appetite or behavior. Usually I tell clients some decrease in appetite and decreased activity can be normal for 24 hours but for any issues lasting more than 24 hours they should call me ASAP. Some of the major issues (although rare) associated with vaccine reactions are trouble breathing and anaphylactic shock. If you notice any trouble breathing, severe lethargy or swelling of the face or at the vaccine site you should contact your veterinarian as soon as possible. If the poor appetite is still an issue after 24 hours or If any other issues are going on contact your veterinarian ASAP.

Vaccines can make cats very sleepy and dull for a while after, especially an older cat. This should pass in a few days. However if Milo seems very poorly or doesn't improve I would visit the vet in case something else is going unrelated to the vaccines.

As long as she is behaving normally now, there is likely no cause for concern. She may have had a mild vaccine reaction. If she is due for more vaccines, mention this episode to your veterinarian before the next round. Monitor for continued symptoms and see your vet if they persist or worsen.
