My dog has little bumps on her head. Are they warts? What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Female | unspayed | 15 lbs

My dog has formed many little bumps (warts) on her head and I’m not entirely what they are or how to take care of them.

Hello, Thanks for the good pictures of Edna's head. I would be more concerned for skin inflammation rather than warts based on the photos. I would be suspicious of skin fold dermatitis or demodectic mites based on her breed. I would recommend taking Edna to her veterinarian for a physical exam. They may recommend diagnostics such as a skin smear or scraping to make sure she does not have an infection from bacteria, yeast, or mites. In the meantime, I'd recommend keeping the areas clean and dry. You can use saline solution for gentle cleaning. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Best of luck to you and Edna.
