Why is my dog slobbering, ear not moving, and tripping? Neurological?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Male | neutered | 7 years and 5 months old | 75 lbs

Hi, my dog Kenchin, a 7 year old pitbull. He started slobbering by his left side a few days ago. Then I noticed that his left ear is not moving with the rest of his face. He’s very expressive and that’s what I can see clearly that his ear is not moving. He’s walking normal but I noticed he’s been tripping and falling some time. I’m very worried. Please help me. Thanks

It sounds like he is having a neurological issue. It is recommended that you take him to your local emergency vet for an examination. Without examining him myself my best guess is that he may have facial nerve paralysis. https://www.wshs-dg.org/resource-center/ask-the-vet-pet-watch/132-ask-the-vet/410-facial-nerve-paralysis
