My 9-week-old puppy has diarrhea and vomiting. Is it just hair?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 3 days old | 15 lbs

My 9 week old puppy has been having diarrhea and occasionally throwing up (normally its hair as he pulls off hair of our older golden retriever). He is still in good spirits and plays throughout the day. So I'm just thinking its digestion problems because of hair?

The hair could play a part, but I don’t usually see that causing diarrhea. More common causes of diarrhea and occasional vomiting in a puppy this hound would include intestinal parasites, bacterial or viral infection, or food intolerance. You could try a bland diet of chicken breast and white rice for a day or so, but if the diarrhea continue, I would recommend taking Luka to the vet for evaluation.
