Cat neck bald spot after e-collar from spay. Is it a fungal infection?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | British Shorthair | Female | spayed | 9 months and 2 days old | 5 lbs

Hi, my cat just had her spay operation last month, and she’s been wearing e-collar for 2 weeks. Today, I found out she has a little bald spot at the side of her neck, the area where she’s had her collar on. It’s about the size of a thumb nail. No shedding skin cells or hard scabs. I wonder if it’s fungal infection and how to seek treatments. Thank you.

If the bald spot is where Jelly had the collar, it's probably from that. It can take a couple of months for the fur to grow back fully, so that's why it would still be there now. I don't think it's a fungal infection. I'd just keep an eye on it for now, the fur should grow back eventually. I hope this helps!
