What happens if my dog accidentally takes a double dose of zonisamide?

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Smooth Coat) | Male | neutered | 13 years and 3 months old | 8 lbs

If I accidentally give my dog double dose of zonisamide will it hurt him? He is 10lbs and takes 10mg twice a day. 13!years oldz

Hello. Reese will be just fine. He is actually on a pretty low dose, so I would not expect any problems at all. Just continue with his regular 10 mg dose in 12 hours. Thanks for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

    Hello, and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Uh oh, naughty dog! Fortunately, your dogs are close enough in size that I’m not worried about an overdose, and a single dose of these medications shouldn’t cause a major problem for him. However, I would recommend touching base with your Vet since they know his specific history, and watch for symptoms of GI upset that can occur with any new medication. Hope this helps.
