My dog has a growing scab-like mark on her belly. Should I worry?

I have concerns for a scab looking mark on my dog. We are waiting for an upcoming vet appointment but would like any advice on what it may be before we can get to the vet. Initially a small black mark occurred roughly 2-3 weeks ago on my dogs belly which looked like a scab which I thought would heal and fall off. However over the last week or so it has grown significantly without any healing therefore I don’t think it is a scab and wondered what it could be and how concerned I should be. Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It looks like skin inflammation and potentially deep skin infection. Most likely Pixie will need a course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory agents to fully recover. Please, make sure she is not licking or scratching the area as by doing that she will likely make things worse.
