Is it common for a dog to vomit when suffering from a skin allergy? My dog has had her ears slightly puffy and thrown up both times she has been to the groomers recently. She threw up some liquid today and has slightly puffy ears after going to the groomers two days ago. This also happened 2 months ago.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Sophie. Dogs will most often suffer from gastrointestinal tract signs (vomiting and/or diarrhea) and skin lesions when suffering from a food allergy. This is not as common with a topical skin reaction, but could occur. She could also be vomiting due to stress of the grooming appointment or a completely separate issue. If she is otherwise normal, you can ask the groomer to use a different ear cleaner on her in case she is reacting to it. If she is acting sick, then she needs to see her veterinarian. I hope this information helps!
