My indoor cat's belly is fat and furless. Should I be worried?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hello! My cat's belly is getting fat and furless. He doesn't lick more that usual. Hid appetite hasn't changed. He eats like normal. He does sometimes vomit there and then I always think it's cause he eats to fast. I really don't see any symptoms of sickness. He is an indoor cat. He used to go outside but since I moved in July this year, I don't allow him to go out. I'm worried about his belly. I feel a "masse" like pouch where it's pink but I guess it's normal? Thank you for confirming with me.

I see what you mean about the fur loss. I'm wondering if his belly getting fat is because he doesn't go outside anymore. When he was outside, he would have been more active, burning more calories. Because he lives indoors now, he won't be as active, so he won't be burning as many calories, leading him to gain weight. You should speak to his vet about cutting back his food to help him lose weight. The fur loss may be normal, my cat's belly looks just like that as well but I'd still have it checked out by a vet to be safe. I hope this helps.
