My dog has a lump behind her front teeth. Should I see a vet?

Is this lump behind my dog’s incisors something that needs to be examined by a vet? (My last dog died of oral melanoma so I’m a little paranoid about lumps in the mouth area). Thank you!

In a dog Ellie's age, it would be very unlikely that this lump would be malignant. It doesn't look big, and if it's not affecting her eating, then it likely doesn't need to be removed. Saying all that, I can't say anything for certain without seeing her in person. I would have it checked out by a vet to be safe. I hope this helps.

Lumps and bumps should always be checked out with a veterinarian in person especially if the lump is growing larger in size, changing in color or shape, or having discharge come from it. Your vet may take a small sample of the mass to help determine what it is and if it concerning enough to be removed.

My dog has a hard big lump inside her mouth on the left side on the picture you can see it. Is this cancer? Or tooth issue?
That looks like a mass. Sometimes these are benign and sometimes they are not. Eva needs to have this mass removed to be tested but she likely cannot chew normally because this mass is growing over her teeth. Make an appointment. I hope this helps.

My dog has a growth on her mouth. She is still active and eating. Do i need to take her to see someone
This could be just a wart, but could also be a malignant growth. It is still small enough to easily remove it without too much damage in the surrounding tissue and therefore I suggest you make an appointment with your veterinarian to have this examined. The vet may decide it is better to take it out in its entirety, or he may suggest taking a bit of tissue from the growth with a very fine needle in order to determine whether it is malignant or benign.

HI, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Thanks for the pictures I see what you are worried about. Possible causes of the mass are: a benign over growth of gum tissue, an epulis, or cancerous growths. Some epulids are: Fibromatous, ossifying, and acanthomatous. Acanthomatous epuli, in particular, are highly invasive to the bone and are usually located on the front part of the lower jaw. It is sadly impossible to tell from just looking at the mass to say what it could be. I recommend you make an appointment with your Vet. Lucky will have to go under anesthesia, have dental X-rays taken of the area and the mass biopsied or removed, if able. I hope this helps! I wish Lucky the best!

My dog sophie and she has a pink lump by her side teeth. We were told that if we press on it and it is pink it is ok?
This lump/bump/growth should be ideally examined by your local vet to have a diagnosis established. Your vet may want to perform an FNA (fine needle aspiration) or a biopsy to sample the bump and determine its underlying nature. Differentials would include skin cysts, infections, benign or more malignant type of tumors. Missing front top teeth. Just large clump of tissue. Please help. This dog is my life. She rescued me following the death of my Son.
That lump of tissue needs to be checked out by the veterinarian. Dogs do get tumors in the mouth. They can also get severe dental infections which can lead to hyperplasia of the gum tissue. The doctor may need to sedate Bumbie to get a thorough exam and a tissue sample of the lump to determine if this is a tumor or something else. Once the doctor examines Bumbie, they will discuss what the best course of action is. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Hi, While I can’t say with certainty without an exam, I would strongly recommend having this gingival mass evaluated by a veterinarian. In many cases these are benign gingival hyperplasia (just meaning excessive tissue), but other times these masses can be malignant cancer. Therefore, catching it early will make a difference in the potential success of treatment. I hope Kosmo just has some hyper plastic gum tissue! Best of luck.

I just noticed this ball (looks like a mass) next to (right side) my big dogs tooth. It doesn’t bother her at all and isn’t painful to touch. Should I be concerned? She is perfectly normal otherwise.
Hi and thanks for your request. This is likely to be due to an epulis, a benign tumor of the gums. The most common types are fibromatous and ossifying epulides (this is the technical name defining the benign tumor). Surgical removal of the epulis is the treatment most commonly recommended but not necessary if not impeding appetite and not bleeding. The mass can grow but at this stage I think it could be only monitored.

Thank you for providing pictures! It looks like Sophie could have a growth of some sort there, either benign or malignant. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. Give your vet a call in the morning to make her an appointment. Best of luck, I hope this helps!

Hi Meytal! What you are seeing on Lucy's cheek could be a cyst, an abscess, a benign tumor, or a malignant tumor. As long as she is eating and drinking normally, behaving normally, and going to the bathroom normally, it's not something I would get too worried about just yet. Certainly it needs to be examined and treated by your vet, but I wouldn't considered it an emergency as long as everything else is normal. Have Lucy seen by a vet this week for it :-)
