My maltipoo took too much anxiety medicine. Is he okay 2 hours later?

Pet's info: Dog | Maltipoo | Male | neutered | 12 years and 10 months old | 12 lbs

I accidentally gave my maltipoo more anxiety medicine than I should have. He was just given this medication recently and It was supposed to be 1/4 of a pill and I accidentally gave him the whole one. It’s been 2 hours since he took it and I don’t know if I should still be worried. He seems fine and stable right now. Please help.

Mickey should be ok. I would have expected to see adverse effects if he took enough to be toxic within 1-2 hours after ingestion as the medication takes 1-2 hours to work. If he's fine, then the overdose isn't enough to cause problems. You shouldn't have to do anything. I hope this helps!

No worries. Just about all anti-anxiety medicaitons used in pets have a sedative effect in the first 2 weeks of use until steady levels are achieved in the bloodstream. As long as he is eating his food by end of day then I would not be too concerned. Also check his gums and make sure they are a nice pink color, which indicates his blood pressure is good. If you still have concerns then contact your vet and see if the dosage can be dropped a bit to reduce the sedative effects. Best wishes with Hershey moving forward. My dog had 1 1mg melatonin that contained xylitol shes been acting fine... And like her normal self. This was over an hour ago she even bad some honey and a treat. Will she be ok?? i cant afford to take her to emergency but i can call my vet tomorrow
Typically you see signs of xylitol toxicity 15-30 minutes after ingestion. If it's been an hour, she may be ok but monitor Middy tonight closely. Any concerning signs, get her into an ER vet right away. Otherwise, have her seen by her vet tomorrow.

Sister left med cabinet open. Dog might have eaten some. I found nothing around. Meds were on top shelf which he can reach and the were platic bags on bottom. I don't know if he has eaten anything .it had thyroid medication and high blood pressure me
If it has been two days with no issues Casper will likely be ok. I recommend monitoring him for decreased appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, dark stools and/or pain/pale gums for one week to ten days past the possible ingestion time. If you see any of those signs he needs to be seen by his veterinarian.

gave my dog his 2nd dose of enalapril less than 12hrs of his first dose.should i worry?
I would not be overly concerned however, it depends on the dose and how far apart the doses were given. If you are talking about 2 hours apart then there could be an issue. If you are talking more like 9-10 hours apart then it should be just fine.

My dog ingested 5mg melatonin pills. Not sure how many but pretty sure it was not more then 5. I made him throw up 3 times and did see about 3 dissolved pills. Should I take him to the vet?
Hi there! I'm sorry to hear about Biggie's troubles! Although there is limited information on the overdosage and toxicity of melatonin in dogs, it is assumed that it is unlikely to cause severe issues with one accidental overdose. Melatonin can actually be prescribed for various medical conditions. In Biggie's case, 10-25mg is a little much, but again, it shouldn't really cause a problem if it just happened this one time. I would keep an eye on Biggie for a few days. Make sure he is acting like his normal self, isn't lethargic or depressed. Make sure he is eating and drinking normally and having normal stools. If he appears sick at any time, you should of course have him evaluated by his veterinarian. Another option you do have, is to call poison control. They may have some more specific information on the potential toxic effects of melatonin. As far as potential toxins go, they always have the most up to date information, and can really put your mind at ease 100%. However, I again do

I gave my dog two 7.5 mg doses of mirtazapine in 12 hours instead of 24 hours. Will he be ok?
Mirtazipine is typically well tolerated in dogs. You may see sedation or drowsiness. Symptoms that should be addressed by your vet include low blood pressure or increased heart rate. Given his age, you may want to have him checked out at the nearest veterinary ER or put a call in to the Pet Poison Helpline ( (855) 764-7661 ). There is a fee for this call, but they will have toxicologists and doctors who can tell you definitively if Cody is at any risk.

If you gave the medication as your vet prescribed it she should probably be fine. In rare cases of overdose adverse reactions include changes in mentation (depression, nervousness, restlessness) and behavior. It may also cause sedation. HI, thanks for using Boop by Petco! I would need to know the milligrams (mg), how many tablets of each and how often he receives the medications to be 100% sure. But he likely will be fine! If he receives any of these medications twice daily just skip tonight's dose. Even if they are just once a day medications he will likely be fine. Call your Vet tomorrow to discuss it with them. My 15lb dog ate 45mg of melatonin, will he be ok?
He has had 4.5 mg/kg which is an overdose compared to routine dosages used. I could not find any data regarding dogs overdosing which were not sky high. My opinion is that he is likely to have a long sleep and a bit of nausea if anything. However if you want to be in the safer side , you can contact the local veterinary poison unit, or contact a local vet to have sickness induced if concerned .

My dog ate a container of relax treats . It contained 66 as he had four about 2pm. The relax treats have melatonin in them he is 80lbs
Monitor your dog for oversedation, Since he is a larger dog, I'm inclined to believe that he shouldn't have much trouble with these. If he becomes lethargic or unresponsive o seems to have trouble breathing, get him seen by a vet immediately and take the packaging with you.
