My dog bumped her head playing. Should I take her to vet or monitor?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My dogs bumped heads pretty hard while going after a frisbee. Our 2 year old border collie (45 lbs) shook her head a few times afterwards and was slightly wobbly. Our other dog was fine. She quickly recovered and wanted to go back to playing. We didn’t let her play anymore and came inside. She has been acting normal since. She is eating, resting and walking fine. Her pupils look normal (small) and there has been no bleeding or bump. Should she be evaluated or just monitor for now?

Ouch poor girl! Yes, I would just monitor her for now. From your description, I don't see any concerning signs. Since she is acting normally, it's fine to monitor her. Should you see any concerning behaviors, then I would take her into the vet. I hope this helps.
