My puppy has watery diarrhea. Should I take him to the vet or continue Pro Pectalin?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boykin Spaniel | Male | unneutered | 13 lbs

My puppy has been having diarrhea since around 12 pm (EST), and it has gotten watery throughout the day. We gave him a 2cc dosage of Pro Pectalin Anti Diarrhea Gel. He's pretty active now but more sleepy after lunch. Do I need to take him to a vet, or do I keep trying the Pro Petctalin?

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. As long as Hudson is eating, drinking and keeping it down you should monitor him at home and continue with Pro Pectalin. Offer him small meals every 3-4 hrs and provide plenty of water to drink. However, if he develops vomiting or if he starts passing blood in the diarrhoea you should take him to your local vets for an appointment.
