My Maltese puppy has brown spots on his pink skin. Should I worry?

My maltese puppy has patches of brown color on his pink skin. His vet says that it is normal. Should I worry and what can be done for his skin to turn to pink again.

This is likely completely normal. Dogs can have patches of brown skin on their pink skin, and the skin won't turn pink again. You can't do anything for it to turn pink, and it's really nothing about which to worry. I hope this helps.

    Thank you for submitting your question regarding Ori. He appears to have normal pigment changes on his belly. This can appear as he grows. I do not see any reason for concern. I hope this information helps!

Thank you for submitting your additional pictures regarding Kion. He is adorable! I still believe that the pigment spots are normal for his breed. They appear flat, not red and I do not see any scabs present. I do not think they should be anything to worry about for him. I hope this information helps!

Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Dogs can develop areas of pigmentation almost anywhere on their bodies as they age. This can be completely normal. But sometimes pigmentation development can be due to areas of chronic skin irritation. This doesn't sound like it's the case so I would just assume it's some normal pigmentation developing as he gets a little older. Good luck

As a lot of puppy grow the pigmentation in their skin can change significantly. It is quite common to see pinkish skin with black patches throughout. If the skin is completely smooth and flat and the oy change is the colour then this is most likely natural pigmentation and nothing to worry about. If the areas are raised or rough, or there is redness or anything else out of the ordinary such as a smell then it could be signs of an issue such as infection. This would require a vet appointment. To me it sounds like normal pigmentation but if you are still concerned then you could ask your vet to check it the next time you are in.

Okay so my maltese (10months) has literally dark spots all over his body. He is licking(and scratching) them, actually his body, a lot. it is an allergy i am 99% sure but i don't know what to do. They are usually big spots placed on a different body
The dark areas that are shown in your photo are normal areas of skin pigment. Even white dogs can have pigment on their skin. The skin in the photo looks very healthy and not indicative of a chronic dermatitis condition.

What does it mean when my puppy has brown spots like this down her back?
Your pictures aren't coming in clear on my end. It could be normal pigmentation of the skin (even white dogs can have non-white skin), flea dirt, or signs of inflammation. To be sure, you can have your vet take a look.

It looks like depigmentation. It is nothing to worry about and also nothing you can do about. It may stay like this, it may progress and more skin on Hazel's chin will become pink rather than dark/black.

His skin seems as if it is turning darker in some spots, where it usually is pink. I noticed the red spots, but he is on Trifexus (responds well) so no fleas and i give him coconut oil and fish oil for skin and allergies.
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is likely a normal pigmentation change. If it is not associated with itchiness or discomfort, there is no need to be concerned about this. If you ever notice any discomfort or itchiness, have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. The red spots though do seem inflamed and inflamed and possibly represent an infection. You may use a medicated shampoo containing chlorhexidine to see if that helps as it may with very superficial infections. You may find that online or at your local pet store. Hello, my name is Dr. Shines and I am happy to help. If Pico isn't itching or licking the area, if the skin's not red or scabby and if the fur looks normal, this is probably normal. As they age, the skin can darken, particularly in the groin and armpits. If Pico seems to be scratching or licking more, or if you sees signs of infection, then make an appointment to have him examined. Allergies can cause the skin to darker as well. My dog has been getting black spots on him, I previously asked this, and they said it was skin pigmentation but I'm not to sure, but is this a cause for concern?
This appears to be normal skin pigmentation. There are some diseases that can cause skin pigmentation like that and since your dog is very young it is unlikely that he is suffering from those: Skin cancer (can be ruled out with a skin biopsy), hypothyroidism (can be ruled out with a blood test), and Acanthosis nigritans (Hyperpigmentation). But as I said, this looks like normal pigmentation. THere is no way to diagnose this from a photo, so a veterinary exam will be able to diagnose any problem, if present.
