My dog ate spicy chicken. Is her rumbling stomach a concern?

Hello, I have a 1 and 1/2 year old Bernese mountain dog, she is 60lbs and ate 3 and a half pieces of SPICY chicken strips from chick-fa-la about 12 hours ago, she is eating and drinking fine, however her belly is making loud grumble noises, should I be concerned ?

I wouldn't be surprised that this spicy chicken is the cause of the stomach rumbling. Dogs don't handle spice well, and it could be Zelda now has some stomach upset. I can give you a home remedy to see if that helps her. Feed her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If she refuses to eat the bland diet, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. I really don't know what medications you have available in Australia to give so I am not sure what to tell you to do. Usually symptoms from eating something like this are self-limiting, meaning after 24-48 hours they will resolve on their own. I just suggest you feed some plain white bread now if she will eat it - one or two slices. This may help prevent diarrhea and further GI upset. Then feed nothing else for 8-12 hours. Water is fine for her to have.

It could be Prince has an upset stomach. I'd feed him a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts a couple of times a day for a few days. If this helps, then slowly add back in his normal diet. If the noises continue on the bland diet or he develops other symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, or anorexia, take him into the vet. I hope this helps!

As most of the episodes could be dietary related, I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. She might have eaten something spoiled that is causing this. withhold food for 12 hours then offer her boiled boneless chicken and rice every 6 hours in small portions. if she is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put her back gradually on her normal food. If she is not eating, take her to the vet to get treatment.
