What's this small black bump on my cat's gums? Is it cancer?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Male | neutered | 3 years and 6 months old

My cat has a small black dot on his gums no bigger than a pencil mark. I thought it was colouration but it appears to be a bump. He doesn't seem in pain, or to experience any cancer symptoms but I am not sure.

This could be lentigo, which is a pigmented spot that is harmless to cats. Croissant is a young cat, and for it to be cancer would be rare in a cat his age. I would keep an eye on this spot for now. If it get bigger or starts to bother him, then I would have him checked out by a vet. I hope this helps!
