Why is my dog licking his rear and peeing strangely after boarding?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Perro de Presa Canario | Male | unneutered | 4 years and 2 months old | 135 lbs

Just picked him up from boarding and something is bothering him maybe a UTI or anal glands. He acts like something is biting him and sits and tries to lick at that area suddenly and often. Growls if i try to look under his tail amd almost bit me which he never does. Pooped this morning fine and eating ok. Pee was not coming out as much or fast and then he was growling and acted weird and dribbled a little pee inside which he NEVER does.

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The symptoms can be consistent with anal gland impaction, urinary tract infection or prostate problems. A visit at your local vets is recommended. Full clinical examination and possibly urine analysis should allow making the definite diagnosis and starting adequate treatment for Bruno.
