My dog looks intact after neuter, but has hard bumps. Is this normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 10 months and 20 days old | 76 lbs

My 10 month old lab was neutered 9 days ago and he seems to still be intact. His incision is healing well, all redness is gone but he does have hard bumps inside his scrotum. Is this normal?

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I suspect the hard bumps in the scrotum is swelling or haematoma caused by castration. The swelling should disappear in the next few days. However if the scrotum is painful or hot to touch, you should take Einstein to your local vets for an appointment.
