My pet has a raw spot that bled. Should I go to the emergency vet?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 4 years and 7 months old | 12 lbs

I’m not sure if she did it to herself but I noticed this raw spot. It’s not bleeding right now but seems like it did a little but at some point. Should I take her to the emergency or try to call her regular vet on Monday knowing they may not fit her in that day?

Poor Dahlia, it does look a bit raw. She may have been scratching herself causing this and that can be a sign of an ear infection. I don't think it's an emergency, but she should see a vet. Give her vet a call to see if you can get her in on Monday. You can gently clean that area with warm water and antiseptic soap. I would put a cone on her to keep her from scratching at it more. You can buy one at a pet store. I hope this helps!

Poor girl! It may be demodex (a type of mange), it could be a bacterial infection, or these spots could be some type of auto-immune disease in the skin such as pemphigus. http://download.skyscape.com/download/ota/5mvetcf5/documents/pdf/pemphigus.pdf This is something that should be evaiuated by a vet sooner rather than later, as delay in proper treatment (depending on the diagnosis), or using the wrong treatment, could make things worse. Hi my dog has a red boil looking lump in her ear but not inside the canal and it has just started bleeding slightly. She is scratching the other ear a lot and it’s all red. Does she need a vet?
I would recommend that you have this little mass checked out by a vet, but I would not consider it an emergency. You could wait until Monday if your vet is not open. If Nala is scratching and causing it to bleed, you may need to have her wear an e-collar to prevent further damage. It could be a histiocytoma, but a vet would need to get a small sample of cells to examine under a microscope to rule out other types of tumors that can look similar. http://www.veterinarypartner.com/Content.plx?P=A&S=0&C=0&A=1676

Poor Avalon! I would gently clean the area with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep the area as clean and dry as possible, and you may have to put an Ecollar on him to keep him from scratching at the area. My dog has this rash that is weepy and now crusted over on her neck. It's sensitive to touch as well When I first notice it the rash was raw and a little bloody! What is this
Poor Dahlia! That area definitely looks quite raw and sore. There are a few different things that can cause skin rashes and crusty areas like this. The most common possibilities would include allergies (food allergies, or an allergy to something in the environment), a bacterial or fungal skin infection, or skin mites (mange). Treatment will depend on what the underlying problem is, so I would recommend taking her to the vet for an exam as soon as you are able to. He/she can do some simple skin tests to help determine what's wrong and get her started on appropriate treatment. In the meantime, you can try bathing the affected area with an aloe and oatmeal dog shampoo - this will probably not do much to treat the underlying problem, but may help to remove some of the crusty discharge and soothe her skin until you are able to see the vet.

Hello, Last night I noticed a patch of raw skin above my cats eye. My vet cannot see her for two weeks so I am checking to see how urgent it is that she sees a vet. If it's an infection, I don't want to see her get worse in those two weeks.
Thank you for providing images. The area does not look severe enough to arrant an immediate visit. Keep the spot clean and dry. You can place an e-collar (cone) on Lavender to prevent rubbing or pawing. Monitor for increasing redness or hair loss, bleeding, discharge or lethargy. These are symptoms that should be addressed by your veterinarian sooner rather than later.

Hi my dog has a cut on her ear its very red and bleeding im not sure if she has scratched it her self
Hello and thank you for reaching out to Boop by Petco. I'm sorry to hear that Willow has a cut on her ear. It is possible that she caused it herself by scratching, but if you did not observe it happening, she could have traumatized it on something else, or been wounded by another animal. Based on your description of the wound, I recommend bringing her to your local veterinarian to have her evaluated. At the very least, the wound likely needs to be cleaned and flushed with a sterile solution to prevent infection. Depending on how deep or infected the wound is, it may require more extensive management such as surgical closure of the wound, or bandages. Willow likely also needs an Elizabethan (cone) collar to prevent her from further traumatizing the wound. Unfortunately, dogs like to scratch at their ears and can make it very hard for wounds to heal. If the wound is superficial and Willow is otherwise healthy, you may be able to apply compression to the wound to get it to stop bleeding,

Typically this isn't an emergency, but if it's really bothering her, causing her pain (signs of pain can include lethargy and loss of appetite), and/or appears infected, then I would have her seen by an ER vet. Otherwise, you can take her in over the weekend or Monday. I hope this helps!

Hello! My golden retriever has a spot on the outside of his ear that just won't heal. He has lost most of his hair in this spot. It stays raw looking and bleeds/has oozing. It can be crusty when the oozing dries. He has lost all of his hair on this
I would recommend putting an ecollar on Simba so he can't scratch this spot and taking him to the vet. This area may need to be shaved and scrubbed to say what is going on and he also most likely needs antibiotics. Thank you for using Boop by Petco.

My baby has been rubbing her face raw on the carpet. Bleeding and she seems to feel itching and pain. She's had this for a couple days and seems to be worse.
Your dog sounds like she may be suffering from an allergic skin reaction, a bacterial skin infection (they itch terribly sometimes), or possibly some contact with an irritant or fire ants. Since this has been getting worse over the past few days and started bleeding, I strongly suggest you take Emma Rose to your veterinarian for an exam and itch relief. Depending on the exam findings he will likely give you an ointment for her face, possibly steroids and an antibiotic to calm down the lesions. Then, depending on how that heals and whether it goes away or not, further diagnostics re allergies may be necessary.

Nancy had a ear hematoma given prednisone 5mg for 2wks finished the pills but now has a raw bloody path by her ear she doesn't seem bothered by it and hasn't been playing with it calling the vet in the morning but should she go to the ER
