My cat threw up after new dental treats. What can I give her?

My cat has been throwing up clear liquid with white foam, there hasn’t been any change to her diet apart from some dental treats that I gave her for the first time yesterday. Is there anything that I can give her so that she stops throwing up?

Poor Conchita. If she hasn't had these dental treats before, they can certain causing her vomiting. Withhold food until the morning, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she refuses to eat the bland diet, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Yes, it could be the new dental treats causing Cloud to vomit. The addition of a new food, even treats, can cause stomach upset. I can give you a home remedy for him to see if that helps. Cats been thrown up. Don't know if it is the food or because she likes to steal the others food. Therefore eating from different food bowls.Any idea as to why she might be throwning up?
She might have eaten something spoiled that is causing this. withhold food for 6 hours then offer her boiled boneless chicken and rice every 4-6 hours in small portions. if she is eating and not vomiting, continue with this diet for 2 days. After 2 days, you can put her back gradually on her normal food. If she continues vomiting or is not eating, take her to the vet to get treatment.

It is possible Toby overindulged. Withhold food for 24 hours. Allow small amounts of water or unflavored PediaLyte. Resume feeding a bland diet in small, frequent amounts. Wait at lest an hour between feedings. Once the vomiting stops, transition slowly to the regular diet. if the vomiting does not stop or if Toby develops other symptoms (lethargy loss of appetite, diarrhea, abdominal pain, etc.), then have him examined by your veterinarian.

Poor Feliza! If she was given antibiotics, that can cause stomach upset leading her to vomit. I would try giving her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days to see if that helps with the vomiting. If it does, then I would slowly add back in her normal diet. Should she keep vomiting or refuse to eat the bland diet, then I would bring her back into the vet.

Hello, cats in general do not drink much water, so I'm not surprised she didn't drink. Additionally, she seems to be eating and tolerating the bland diet nicely. Its likely that she had a sensitivity t the mackerel treat you offered her and this caused the vomiting. Continue to feed her the bland diet for another day or 2 then transition her back to her normal dry food. As long as her GI signs have resolved, then you do not need to do anything else about this. If her GI signs, reoccur, you will need to have your veterinarian evaluate her. Hope this helps and best of luck.

My cat threw up her food this morning , since then she’s been lethargic but still walking around and a bit playful. We did recently change her food about 3 days ago. Should I hold food and only give her water for half a day?

Vomiting can be observed with gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, food sensitivity, foreign body ingestion and obstruction or other conditions such as pancreatitis or kidney disease. You can monitor her for now. However, if this continues to happen, I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Likely diagnostics to be performed include abdominal imaging and general bloodwork. Treatment would depend on findings. Good luck and have a great day!

As a first approach, I would suggest to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, lethargy or inappetence. Poor Iker! It could be the new treats you gave him causing the vomiting. A sudden change in diet such as new treats can causing GI upset. I can give you a home remedy for him to see if that helps. Vomiting is sometimes seen with conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis and chronic kidney disease, among many other conditions. If she is otherwise doing fine, dietary indiscretion appears more likely. It may be something as easy as just changing her diet to something that she can tolerate better. However, an examination by a veterinarian as well as minimal diagnostic data would be needed to rule out more concerning things. You can start by changing her diet to a sensitive stomach type diet. If no improvement, have her examined by a veterinarian to start therapy if needed based on findings. If you think she is overweight, you can consider feeding her a weight loss diet such as the Hill's metabolic weight management diet. Good luck!
