My kitten has a bleeding, moist bald spot on neck. Should I worry?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | neutered | 6 months and 30 days old | 6 lbs

Hello! My six month old kitten suddenly had this bald spot last evening. It was bleeding at the time but has stopped after I cleaned it with saline. He does have a litter mate brother here as well and they do play but aren’t aggressive with each other. He is not over grooming and it is slightly moist to touch. Is this concerning? The spot is on his neck and to the right.

It's good that the area has stopped bleeding. I would keep an eye on it for now. I would gently clean the wound with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and Nick will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. I hope this helps!
