Is an X-ray accurate for kitten hip dysplasia diagnosis at 3 months?

Hello. We've taken a three month age maine coon kitten and we suspect that he is suffering from hip joint dysplasia. We have got an x-ray and it looks scary, but we are not quite sure if this is an appropriate diagnostic method for kittens: maybe joints are naturally flexible at 3 months. Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The hips are not fully grown or developed at this age however the subluxation that is seen in both hips is definitely abnormal and is likely to cause problems with walking and jumping. I am afraid the dysplasia looks serious and Normal may need surgery in the future to maintain normal mobility.
