Why is my tub-shy dog suddenly in the tub, won't leave, and panting?

My 8 year old lab (pure if that is rellevant) who has ALWAYS been deathly afraid of the bathroom and tub went outside roled around in the grass played fetch 2-3 times came inside and ran and jumped into the tub. Wont get out, not even entices by his favorite treats. He has been panting a lot for an hour or so as well. Its only 72 degrees in the house (I live in florida). Thats everything I can think of that might be relevant. Very concerning behavior. Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | unneutered | 7 years and 8 months old | 120 lbs

Even if the temperature in your house was low, it may have been too hot for him outside. Bathrooms are typically cool. If this is not the case, then he may be afraid or painful.
