My cat's nipple is enlarged with a lump. Should I take her to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 lbs

My cat is a 11 year old spayed female. In the past week, Ive noticed a single enlarged nipple. The larger nipple also has a small bump about the size of a large pea when I gently press down. I’ve included two photos of the larger nipple, and one photo of one of her normal nipples. Is this a sign of a serious issue? Or does she need immediate vet care?

I see what you mean about Pepper's nipple, it is a big redder around the base and more enlarged than the nipple in the third picture. What I am a bit worried about is the small lump, and due to that, yes I think it should be checked out by a vet to be safe. I don't think it's a serious issue, but I cannot say that for sure without seeing her, so having it checked out by a vet is best. Give her vet a call now to make her an appointment. I hope this helps!
