My dog has skin patches, poor appetite, and scratches. Is it serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Male | neutered | 2 years and 1 month old | 74 lbs

Are these patches normal in my dog? I don’t think I have seen them before or I simply haven’t paid any attention. Also My he doesn’t seem to have any appetite. And he chews into himself quite often.

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. The skin looks normal, the patches are most likely normal variations in skin pigmentation. Excessive scratching is often related to allergic problems and poor appetite is not specific for any disease. In fact, most of unwell dogs go off food. Poor appetite can be caused by stomach upset, viral or bacterial infections, fever, pain, behavioural problems and more. Please, take Tadashi to your local vets for an appointment after the weekend. Full clinical examination will help to establish if Tadashi needs any further treatment or diagnostic tests.
