My dog fought, now won't eat, limps, and hasn't gone to bathroom.

Winston got in a fight with another dog last night and he won't eat or drink anything and he whines if we leave him by himself. His leg is hurt to its not broken he can walk on it he just walks really slow and he hasn't been to the bathroom since it happened.

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Winston and for providing a picture, it's very helpful. Oh no, this sounds bad. I suspect he is in a lot of pain if he won't eat or drink, and walks really slow. He could also have internal injuries. You cannot treat this at home, he has to see a vet immediately. Leaving him like this would be cruel to him, so please take him into a vet now to get this treated. Best of luck.

Hello. This is just such a difficult question to try & address with so little information. And it sounds like a good hands-on exam is really needed. I would strongly recommend seeing your local veterinarian as soon as possible to see what injuries your dog may have sustained & if there is any significant infection that needs treatment. My 7 year old male boxer, woke up yesterday and is having issues putting weight on his limbs, doesnt eat or drink much and refuses to go out to the bathroom. Whines when we help him up to try any of the above. HELP!!! SNOWED IN and cannot get to a ve
Poor Cooper! It sounds like he is in a lot of pain if he is having problems putting weight on his limbs and isn't eating or drinking. I would be concerned he may have a problem with his neck, back, or hips causing this difficulty. The best thing to do is rest him as much as possible until you can get out and get him into a vet. Please do not give him any human pain medications, many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. You may have to use a sling under his abdomen back by his hips to help support him when he gets up, and I would keep food and water near him so he doesn't have to move much to get to it. Try to tempt him to eat with some boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts. As soon as you can, get him into a vet, which hopefully can be soon. I hope this helps!

I have a Staffie who is 7 months old and she has hurt her rear right leg from getting caught in a fence there’s no visible swelling but is unable to weight bare on it. She is also not eating or taking fluids. What could be the cause of this?
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor Hallie! She is possibly not eating due to pain associated with the injury which often times can affect a dog's appetite. Of course other unrelated causes for her not to eat cannot be completely excluded. With these types of injuries, there is usually more trauma than what can be seen from the outside. I recommend that you have Hallie evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They may take radiographs to check her bones in the affected leg. They would be able to check the extent of her injuries and proceed with therapy as indicated. She may require antibiotics, further local wound therapy and pain control medications. My dog is limping on his back legs and won't eat. No signs of puncture wounds but I'm very worried. It seems to be internal but he's only 2. He's also an obese dog. Please help!
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Loss of appetite can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. He may be weak from his sickness which is causing him to not walk well. I recommend that you have Bear evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hurts isn't putting weight on his leg because he is in pain, and that may lead him to not eating. But it's very serious he's not eating, drinking, and not going to the bathroom. I think that, due to this, he should see a vet now. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website.

If Paxton is not eating at all and is limping, this is a sign he is in pretty bad pain or badly injured. I would try to find a vet that can see him sooner, or get in to an emergency clinic (your wait may be several hours as he is not an immediate triage case). Until you can get him into a vet, keeping him on strict bed rest to avoid further irritation or injury of the leg, and offering some bland meals like boiled chicken and rice may help get him eating and reduce his pain, but it is best to get into a vet ASAP if he still refuses.

My Chihuahua was attacked by a german shepherd 2-3 days ago she hasnt eaten and she barely drinks water this morning she peed and it was a dark tea like color and she wont look when i call her she just stares in the distance
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! It is very important that she is evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. This is quite concerning. Keep in mind that most dog attacks to small dogs cause a lot of trauma and most of the time there is much more trauma inside than what you can see from the outside. They would be able to examine her more closely and proceed with therapy accordingly. At the very least they can proceed with pain control medications as she is likely painful which is why she is not eating well. I am hoping for a full recovery!

Based on the symptoms you are describing, I would recommend having Zeus examined by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. He may be in pain from a leg injury causing him to not want to move much and also could be affecting his appetite / thirst. Another possibility is that Zeus is currently dealing with Tick Paralysis. There are also other possible causes but these are just a couple. I would get him in sooner rather than later and if that means taking him in as an emergency, I would certainly do so. Hi and thank you for using Boop by Petco. I recommend that you take your dog to see a veterinarian. It sounds like he needs immediate care if he is not eating, he is lethargic and may have a fever. This sounds like a serious condition that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later. Your veterinarian will perform a full physical exam and determine what additional testing may need to be done (xrays, bloodwork) to give you a better idea of what treatments are needed. Good luck.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This could be due to a neurologic condition such as a disc herniation or possibly something like a tumor or something else affecting the spinal cord and causing this. It is very important that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible as some of these conditions such as a disc herniation are very time sensitive to achieve a full recovery.
