Was it right to euthanize my elderly cat with multiple health issues?

Pet's info: Cat | British Shorthair | Male | neutered | 21 years and 2 months old

Male epileptic cat aged21 yrs, gone into kidney failure, infection in mouth from meds plus ulcers under tongue and arthritis. Bit of stiffness but fine a week ago. Stopped eating went to vets, full blood work and antibiotics, ok for3 days, stopped weeing and eating. Stopped drinking day later but laid near water bowl , vet advised euthanasia, were we right to do this please?

Hello. I am so sorry about poor Nugget. This is quite a long list of very serious ailments & it sounds like his quality of life had deteriorated significantly. At 21 years of age, he had a remarkably long life, but there does come a time when you have to make the decision not to just let him linger, to end his suffering & give him the most gentle, kind & humane death as possible. I think this was definitely the time to do so. I am sure this was very hard for you to do, but there could be no meaningful recovery. Please find peace in your decision. Nugget was obviously a cherished member of your family. My condolences on your loss & thanks for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
