Can I apply Seresto flea collar on dogs with sensitive skin after bath?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 2 years and 6 months old | 4 lbs

Ellie (smaller dog, 13 lbs) & willow (larger dog, 32 lbs) have fleas. I just gave them a dawn soap & baking soda bath to get rid of the fleas (works great, but dries their skin out). Ellie has VERY sensitive skin. No oral for either of them-makes them sick. My question is: they just had the bath & are dry. Can I put the Seisto flea collar on them? id like to do it before they go outside (where the fleas are) No reactions? What should I look for if they are having a reaction? THANKYOU IN ADVANCE

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. You should not apply Seresto collar on a wet dog, so as long as they are dry now it is ok to put the collar on. Please, note that it takes about 24hrs for the collar to fully work. Side effects to Seresto collar are uncommon, but please monitor your dogs for signs like excessive skin itching, local hair loss on the neck, red, inflamed skin around the neck.
