Hello This is the blood test of my dog. After this test I was prescribed cimetidine and another syrup. I wanted to know if there is something wrong with my dog according to the report and if I should give him the medicines. Thanking you very much and very grateful for any help.

As Dr. Wnuk mentioned, Ludwig's blood test results are largely normal, aside from a mild elevation in his BUN, which could be the result of mild dehydration or the start of kidney disease. Cimeditine is an antihistamine, which is most often used to manage ulceration/irritation in the gastrointestinal tract. To be perfectly honest, I do not know what the Neeri solution is, nor can I find any helpful information on the company's website. I would hesitate to use this medication because it is clearly labeled as being sugar-free. Many artificial sweeteners can cause stomach upset in dogs, and xylitol is highly toxic. Since I don't know why Ludwig was taken to his vet for blood work, the clinical signs he's showing, or any changes on his physical exam, it's hard for me to tell you what should be done. It should be safe to give him the cimetidine, as prescribed by your veterinarian, but I think it would be best to call your vet to further discuss his case.

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Ludwig had a blood test to check his red cell and white cell values - these results are all normal. Increase in white blood count usually suggest infection, low red cell count is often caused by more serious problems with red cells production or red cell accelerated destruction. But the results are fine. He also had liver function and kidneys function tested. Liver results are normal, however one of the kidney parameters is high (UREA). This parameters goes up with dehydration, after eating and with some kidney problems too. The fact that creatinine result is normal, suggest that the kidneys are working fine. Ideally, the UREA test should be repeated in 7-14 days time. Cimetidine is an anti-allergic medication. As I don't know what symptoms Ludwig is showing, it is hard to advise on treatment for him.
