What's the right Drontal deworming schedule for my 12-week-old cat?

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | unspayed | 2 lbs

I got this cat from a shelter, in which they stated they de wormed her. She is at 12 weeks now, should i be purchasing drontal and administering her that at 12 weeks than every month until 1 year than administering it every 3 months,???

Great questions! Hunting and killing mice and birds are a natural part of a cat's behavior, and the one thing I would be concerned about is if she is eating mice that may have gotten into mouse poison. This would poison her as well, but you can't stop this behavior unless you keep her indoors all the time. She should be on a regular deworming schedule, and she can be given Drontal once a month since she is a hunter. In terms of indoor/outdoor cats, it is a good idea to deworm them every three months regardless of the fecal test results. If this cat is a hunter as well, then I would deworm the cat monthly. Ideally, kittens should be dewormed every 2 weeks from 6 weeks of age until 3 months, and then monthly until they are 6 months old. Strongid (pyrantel) and Drontal are common dewormers. You should confirm a dose based on Zuri's weight with your veterinarian. A stool sample can be submitted to diagnose specific parasites to make treatment more effective.

How many doses, and how far apart should I give drontal plus to my dog for hookworms?
Your pet should get two doses 2 weeks apart because this is the life cycle of the worm. Keeping Tabitha on a monthly heartworm preventative (which has an intestinal dewormer in it as well) can help prevent reinfection. Thanks for visiting Boop by Petco! What is the total number of tablets for proper dosing of Praziquantel tablets for my cat who has tapeworms? She is 6 pounds, and five months old. I gave her one 23 mg tablet. Does she require two more doses every five hours?
Hello, thank you for using Boop by Petco. Cats should be treated with an initial dose (based on the label instructions) and then again after 3 weeks. DO NOT give multiple doses in a day. Cats get tapeworms by ingested fleas that are infected with the tapeworm larvae so be sure to get the fleas under control.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! It depends on what medication you were given. If it was Panacur (fenbendazole) then it is one dose daily for 3 days. If you can re-post with the name of the medication, if it is not panacur, we can answer better. Not all dewormers are dosed the same. I hope this helps!

Hello, & thank you for using Boop by Petco. You can definitely deworm Fiber now. For a kitten this young, you can use Pyrantal pamoate which is available over the counter. Hi, I would recommend to worm first, at an interval of 2 weeks apart and then continue with every 3 months. Please consult the vet about using a product for cats which treat against roundworm and tapeworm.

I would give Muezza Panacur. It's a three day course of treatment, and she will need another course of treatment two weeks after the first ends. After that, she should be dewormed monthly until she is six months of age, and then she should be dewormed every three months. The amount to give her is based on her weight, and the instructions on the bottle of Panacur will tell you how much to give her. I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Boop by Petco. A veterinarian in India will be beat able to answer this question based on local disease and parasite patterns. Here in the US, I deworm kittens with fenbedazole and praziquantel. This may be needed just once or several times throughout kittenhood. I give the FVRCP vaccine starting at 6-8 weeks. I give one every 3-4 weeks until 16 weeks of age. I give a feline leukemia vaccine at 12 weeks and 16 weeks. I give a rabies vaccine at 12 or 16 weeks. Again there may be other recommended vaccines or deworming depending on your local area. Best wishes to you and your new kitten!
