My cat is uncoordinated and tongue out after pancreatitis. Why?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | 10 lbs

Cat had bout of pancreatitis & infection 3 weeks ago. Recent check up & all looks good. No sign of inflamed pancreas, blood numbers back to ideal. This AM however cat has been bit uncoordinated & tongue has been out majority of day. Slightly sticking tongue out almost as if he isnt aware it. Still eating, appetite is normal, drinking water & routine bowel movement & urination. Did give his clavamox pill later then usual last night (4 hours later). Not sure if thats causing this behavior?

Hello and thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. No, it is definitely not because of Clavamox. i cannot think of any link between pancreatitis and neurological symptoms, so there may be two separate problems going on at the same time. If Casper is still not back to normal and is showing neurological symptoms, you should take him to your vets today. If he fully recovered you should monitor him at home. However, if he has another episode like this, please record a video of his behaviour on your phone and play it back to your vet. That will greatly help to understand what is going on with your cat.
