Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Pinscher | Male | neutered | 20 lbs
Hi I have no idea where my dog acquired this strange blustery rash on his inner thigh but I noticed it today and it is very painful for him. It seemingly appeared overnight and I’ve been applied dog anti septic spray and veterinarian grade steroid/anti fungal/antibacterial cream to the rash which seems to be helping, the middle photo is before application of the anti septic and triple action cream. What does this look like to you?

Hello. This is very typical of an allergic dermatitis reaction. Your treatment is appropriate so just continue until the skin is fully healed. Then, at the first sign of it coming back, start the cream again. You should also contact your veterinarian to see if the newer anti-allergy medications like Apoquel or Cytopoint would be appropriate to prevent these flare ups from happening. Thanks for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Poor Leo! You are right that this does not look like a hot spot. It’s very possible that he could have an underlying allergy causing this rash to be a common problem. Definitely keep your appointment with you veterinarian. At home, you can try washing it daily with hand soap and rinsing it well. Once it is dry, apply a dab of coconut oil and rub it in well. Do this twice daily. The only thing is that you don’t want Leo to lick it off. I recommend he wear an elizabethan collar afterwards until the oil is fully absorbed. I hope this is helpful and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Looks like a bit of a heat rash. I suggest you get these medicated wipes and wipe the area 2-3 times per day until healed. http://www.allivet.com/p-5446-mal-a-ket-medicated-wipes-50.aspx If no improvement or it gets worse at any time then I suggest you get Tank to your vet for an exam. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
