I am concerned about my cat’s nipple. It looks very red and swollen and might be losing some hair around it. I believe there was a scab around it the other day (but I am not 100 percent sure).

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Pippa and for providing pictures, they are very helpful. I agree there is redness and swelling around the area, and I do see hairless as well. It may be she injured herself. The redness and swelling do indicate infection, although I can't say that for certain without seeing her in person. I would have her seen by a vet. The vet can diagnose what is causing this problem and will treat her. Give her vet a call now to make her an appointment. I hope this helps!

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It is hard to know for sure without an examination. This could be a growth for example. If you think it is just very mild then monitor her closely and have her examined if at any point it progresses or it just does not resolve within the next month or so. Hopefully this is just transient inflammation. Best of luck!
